    PERSONAL: Nora is a former high school reading teacher, mom of three children, all of whom attended public school, married to Eric over twenty years, and a community and children's advocate.

    EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: Graduated from Florida Southern College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications. Proud graduate of the Star Program at FAU for alternative education certification.

    PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS: State of Florida Certification in English 5-9, 6-12. State of Florida Endorsements: Reading, ESOL, and Gifted.

    PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND: Employed four years with SBBC as a Language Arts/Reading teacher at Piper High School; substitute teacher for SBBC for three years prior to teaching. Past business experience includes, but is not limited to Account Executive for Sun-Sentinel and Corporate Account Executive for Holiday Inn Corporation.

    Invaluable life and educational experience adopting three children and advocating on their behalf through the maze of ESE and gifted issues in public schools.

    Elected to The School Board of Broward County, Florida in 2010 to serve as District 7 Board Member. Selected as Vice Chair for the 2016-17 School Year. Selected as Chair for the 2017-18 school year.

    Serves or has served as Broward School Board representative on Council of Great City Schools, National School Board Association/(NSBA) and Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE).  Florida School Boards Association (FSBA) Treasurer (2016-17),Board of Directors, and Legislative liaison-state.

    COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Coconut Creek Boundary Committee; Coconut Creek Elementary SAF Chair; Coconut Creek Elementary Reflections Chair; volunteer reading tutor; President of RESOLVE of Broward County; Volunteer Board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and past Big Sister, V.P. Phi Mu Fraternity of Broward County; and Chairperson Education Advancement Committee, Pompano Beach Moose Lodge.
