    This summer, BCPS is excited to offer a full range of academic programs, fun afternoon activities and camps, and practical childcare solutions designed to keep students safe and engaged for the entire day.

    BCPS Summer 2024 includes a variety of options to meet the needs of students and families, including face-to-face instruction targeting students with academic deficiencies and/or missing credits/courses, and a wide variety of camps and enrichment programs throughout the district.  Let's SOAR together this summer!



Summer Experience

  • The BCPS Summer Experience Program is designed for children who meet eligibility criteria demonstrating a need for additional instruction and time spent learning.  Students who meet eligibility criteria are invited by the home school to participate.  The program runs for 15 instructional days and is being hosted at 36 sites across the district.  The Summer Experience Program includes free breakfast and lunch and transportation for qualified students.  For additional information, families should contact their child's home school.

  • Extended School Year (ESY) for Students with Disabilities (SWD)

    Who: Students with Disabilities (SWD) eligible for ESY. Eligibility is an IEP committee decision and must be documented on the IEP annually.

    When: Monday, June 24, 2024 to Thursday, July 18, 2024, Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 6-hours daily for Elementary Students and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (4 hours daily) for Secondary Students. ESY up to 6 hours daily for all levels.  Fee-based aftercare options may be available. Please contact the summer host site to obtain a list of available programs.

    What: Students with Disabilities will receive services based on their IEP and instruction will focus on specific IEP goals. ESY services may include academic instruction, related services, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech/language services, behavior support, transition services, and other services as highlighted by the IEP team.

    Where: Students will attend the site designated for the home boundary school.

  • Rising Third Grade Reclaim and Elevate

    Who:  Qualifying current second grade students currently enrolled in a traditional Broward County Public School (BCPS) who are "rising" to third grade next year. 

    What:  Students will participate in instruction and accompanying integration activities over the span of 15 days. Students will be immersed in standards-based content in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies and engage in high-quality STEM and Arts/Music/Debate project-based learning experiences. Life Skills Learning will be integrated throughout the day.

    Where:  Students will attend the site designated for the home boundary school.

    When: Monday, June 24, 2024 to Thursday, July 18, 2024, Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 6-hours daily.  Fee-based aftercare options may be available. Please contact the summer host site to obtain a list of available programs.

  • Third Grade Summer Reading Academy

    Who:  Third-grade students, including charter school students, who score a Level 1 on the FAST PM3 Assessment.  

    What:  Students will participate in high-quality integrated instruction in Literacy, Science, and Social Studies in preparation to move to fourth grade. Following 15 days of engaging standards-based instruction, students will have the opportunity for promotion to 4th grade if they pass the assessment administered during the final week of the program.

    Where:  Students will attend the site designated for the home boundary school.

    When: Monday, June 24, 2024 to Thursday, July 18, 2024, Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 6-hours daily.  Fee-based aftercare options may be available. Please contact the summer host site to obtain a list of available programs.

  • Rising 8th Grade Math to Algebra

    Who: Targeted 7th grade students from regular math to Algebra (Rising 8th Graders)

    What: Participating students will participate in teacher-led, hands-on instruction in math with a focus on 8th grade algebra readiness.  

    Where: Students will attend the site designated for the home boundary school.

    When: June 24, 2024– July 18, 2024, Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The program runs for 4-hours. Fee-based aftercare options may be available. Please contact the summer host site to obtain a list of available programs or use the tool above.

  • Rising 9th Grade Algebra Remediation

    Who: Targeted 8th grade students in need of remediation before High School Algebra (Rising 9th Graders)

    What: Participating students will participate in teacher-led, hands-on math instruction with a focus on 9th grade algebra readiness.  

    Where: Students will attend the site designated for the home boundary school.

    When: June 24, 2024– July 18, 2024, Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The program runs for 4-hours. Fee-based aftercare options may be available. Please contact the summer host site to obtain a list of available programs or use the tool above.

  • Secondary Course Recovery

    Who: Grade 8 Middle School Students (Rising 9th Grade), 10th and 11th Grade Students (Rising 11th and 12th Grade), and current Seniors in need of credit for Summer Graduation.  Course Recovery is designed students currently enrolled in a traditional Broward County Public School who are in need of credit recovery or in need of earning a concordant score for graduation. Students with Disabilities enrolled in the Summer Experience 6-12 will have access to the general education curriculum with the support of an ESE Teacher (Support Facilitator). All accommodations, according to a student’s IEP, will be provided.

    What: Participating students will follow a two-class rotation and must have at least one course for recovery. Students only needing to recover one course will have the opportunity to select an elective from the options available at the host site. Elective offerings vary by location.

    Where: Students will attend the site designated for the home boundary school.

    When: June 24, 2024– July 18, 2024, Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The program runs for 4-hours. Fee-based aftercare options may be available. Please contact the summer host site to obtain a list of available programs or use the tool above.

    *Course recovery is also available through BCPS Community Schools co-enrollment program and Broward Virtual School. Students who successfully complete the course recovery sessions will be awarded credit for the course, which can be used for grade forgiveness and graduation. Summer Camps and Programs at BCPS Sites

  • Summer Camps and Programs are available at many schools throughout the District, including those funded by grants with no cost to families and those that charge a nominal fee for participation.

    Summer VPK

    All children that are Florida residents, 5 years of age by September 1, 2024, who obtain and present a valid Florida VPK Certificate of Eligibility and did not participate in VPK or use a VPK Certificate of Eligibility during the 2023-2024 school year, are eligible to enroll in the 2024 Summer VPK program.

  • 21st Century Community Learning Centers

    21st CCLC programs are created to engage students in hands-on academic and personal enrichment. The key components focus on ELA, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), character education, health & nutrition, and career and college readiness. The program is available to all district public schools, charter schools, and private school students in grades K-12 based on location. Breakfast and lunch are provided to all students.

    Transportation is also available to district public school students. All programs operate Monday through Thursday, for a minimum of 8 hours except for Elementary schools which operates through Friday.

    Programs begin at 8 am and ending times vary based on locations. Please contact participating sites for more information.
